Finished Chunky Cowl

Here is the finished cowl I made my friend, and some different ways to wear it. Of course, it fits differently on a BODY than on a flat hanger ... but this gives you the idea.

Even though I slipped the first peg on every row - which gives the selvedges a nice edge - I decided to do a single crochet all the way around the cowl. I like the way it firms up and really finished off the edges.

I added three buttons, so she can button all three  - or two - or even just one of them. There are no buttonholes as the buttons fit in the 'yarn-overs' anywhere she wants to put them through.

The photo below is the perfect example at how it will look much better on a real person.

It's soft and snuggly and it was made with love ... I hope she gets lots of wear out of it.

Chunky Cowl, Work In Progress.

YAY! My friend has received her cowl in the mail, so now I can share some pictures with you of the Work In Progress.

Her colouring is similar to mine, so I went with this pretty Autumn hued chunky yarn (Hometown USA) and the yellow Knifty Knitter loom. This is the largest loom in the set.

I worked in a series of e-wrap rows, purled rows and 'yarn-overs'.  Because the yarn is so chunky though, the 'yarn-overs' don't make that much of a 'hole' and instead give it a lovely texture.

I wound my skein into a ball, and used one of the holes in the dollar store bin to keep the yarn from bouncing around on the floor.  I'll post pictures of the finished project later this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Working on a surprise ...

I know it's been awhile since I've posted. I have been working on a project that I finished a few minutes ago. I am going to take it to the post office tomorrow, and when it is received I'll post pictures. This is a gift for a new friend, who has been very generous to me. I have no idea if she reads my loom knitting blog or not, so just to be on the safe side I'm waiting to post.

Back next week!
